Creeping Night.

Mumbai is having a non existent winter but sunset is still early. There is a huge lake where we stay. In the last few years there has been lot of construction all around the lake. On our side of the lake we have simple, ordinary multistorey buildings which nobody photographs...:-)

Because we have such a fancy skyline on the other side...

I went close to sunset with a tripod n within 15 minutes it got dark as u can see below.

Aging Gracefully.

This particular model was born in 1942. My late grandfather bought it when he went to graduate school in the US in 1947-48. Whole bunch of people since then have done two finger typing on it. 

For the last several years in has been in the loft in our house.

Today's computer n laptop keyboards may have fading letters but this particular one is still going strong close to 65 years n counting.....

Ice Ice.....Nice!

Mumbai has a weird season between monsoon and winter, it is called "October heat". Its hot sultry and u need to keep hydrated with things like water, nimbu pani n apple juice.

I tried that had a lot of fun with the ice and the camera.

That Pearly Glow.

This is'nt about jewellery......

This is about a aunt, mother of a friend who knew me since I was little. She always encouraged me in the various things I did. Gave me handmade gifts like chocolates, soft toys etc over the years....

Recently she made and sent me a Diwali gift which is a candle holder in the shape of a flower adorned with pearls.... Isn't that cool!!  I have posted the picture of the same below.....

Thank you aunty for the wonderful gift.....

Diwali is all about lighting lamps, doing rangoli, eating yummy stuff, visiting your friends. Short of eating everything else is possible in this blog post.

Happy Diwali...

Diwali in Maharashtra is celebrated over 4 days. Its about early morning oil massages, fragrant baths, gifts, prayers, celebrating the (Indian) New Year, new clothes, fireworks, not to forget special yummy treats like Chakali, Karanji, ladoo, sev, shankarpali n many more things....

Just thought I should photograph it before eating it all up...:-)

Golden Magic.

Sunday morning, the day begins at 6:00 am because I teach a swimming class. These days sunrise is a bit late and i got these clicks from the balcony before leaving....Tried out some unusual photography through a glass from which I had just drunk water on my return from class. The sun was up and active by then....

The results were intriguing. One through the flat bottom of the glass and one through the cylindrical side surface of the glass.

The bird is possibly confused with the sun and the moon both there...

The sun captured through the flat base of a transparent water glass. Looks like the sun is branded :-p......

No it wasn't raining, I just finished drinking water from the glass and clicked the sun through cylindrical surface...
